MEP Engineer

The Role

This is an opportunity to join a small, growing team and make a substantial impact at Bowery. We’re looking for someone that can learn, adapt and roll with a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and who isn’t afraid of uncertainty.

This position is part of the Systems Engineering team responsible for the mechanical design of Bowery’s grow system and for the facility layout of all the utilities needed for the grow system.  You will be responsible for building a scalable framework on evaluating real estate for future locations.

What you’ll do at Bowery

• You’ll design and oversee commissioning of MEP systems
• You will lead MEP equipment selection process including pumps, valves, HVAC equipment.
• You’ll be responsible for facility and grow system electrical layouts
• You’ll be responsible for facility and grow system plumbing layouts
• Irrigation system design, component & equipment sourcing, manage installation & commissioning
• You will interact with and manage outside A/E & fire suppression teams when necessary
• You will interact with outside HVAC consultants, specific to the growing environment, integrating design schematics and narratives into stamped drawings to be the engineer of record.
• You will interface with the local department of buildings to ensure all drawings are approved within the established deadlines.

Who you are

• You’ve earned your BS/MS in Mechanical or Electrical engineering and you’ve been licensed, and have practiced, as a professional engineer (PE) with 7+ years of industry experience.
• You have a working knowledge of building systems and associated codes
• You’re experienced with managing projects that require coordinating your own work with external partners and/or multi-functional teams.
• You’re experienced with the oversight of construction and the commissioning of MEP systems.
• You are excited about how advancements in industrial automation and robotics can work in harmony to improve the state of the planet.
• You’re fluent in BIM software like Revit and 2d layout software like AutoCad
• You’re familiar using 3D CAD software for design like Creo PTC, SolidWorks or Sketchup.
• You believe that teams succeed and fail together and take responsibility for ensuring the success and safety of your teammates.
